Corymbia House

The brief for Architect Paul Butterworth: A discrete island antidote for a busy family to relax and retreat. Enter “Corymbia” an inter-generational, physical, and ideological retreat. The name of the home comes from the beautiful flowering tree that was planted years prior to the build by the homeowners.

The home, located at North Stradbroke Island is filled with ample light-filled living spaces, cosy bedrooms, and unique outdoor / indoor bathing spaces.

Materials, colours and textures chosen for the home reference the beautiful bush setting surrounds. The exterior weatherboard stain was QTF’s AQUAOIL in Old Gum and the VJ Plywood was AQUAOIL Charcoal Stain. The stains beautifully enhance and enrich the home while protecting the timber from swelling, shrinking, cracking, and splintering. AQUAOIL was the perfect choice to protect this bush home from water, mildew, and the suns UV rays.

With the project now completed the owners can enjoy a home where family and friends can gather and will be loved for generations.
